Be Brave
The "Be Brave" candle was created to support Shane McCooe, an 8- year old NJ resident currently battling B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The treatment for Shane's leukemia is an intense, 2 and a half year long journey. Aside from IV, oral chemotherapy, and medications, Shane requires multiple procedures throughout his treatment. Shane has suffered unfortunate side effects from necessary chemotherapy drugs and is currently on blood thinners to assist with an extensive blood clot in his brain. Shane receives physical and occupational therapies to help curb chemo side effects and has been the recipient of several blood transfusions and blood products since diagnosis. He knows firsthand the impact of blood donations.
When Shane isn't beating leukemia, he loves visiting Long Beach Island, rooting on the New York Giants and Mets, reading, and building LEGOS! Shane is sharing his journey with leukemia on his own Instagram account , @diaryofabravekid, to raise awareness for childhood cancer.
